# Quickstart

Get up and running in Nested Knowledge and start building your first nest.

This quick start guide explains how to get set up in Nested Knowledge and get started on your first nest.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Create Your Account

[Create an account](https://nested-knowledge.com/sign-up) to get started in Nested Knowledge.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Check your spam folder for the verification email. If it doesn't arrive, [contact support](mailto:support@nested-knowledge.com) for manual verification.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create Or Join An Organization

#### Create An Organization

If you are the first in your organization to create an account, [create an organization](/account-management/organization-management.md) to invite others. You need to [set up an active pilot](/start-a-pilot-trial/start-a-pilot-trial.md) or [subscription](/account-management/subscriptions.md) to invite others.

You can also proceed as an individual.

#### Join Your Organization

If your organization admin has sent you an invite, it will appear on your [Organizations page](https://nested-knowledge.com/manage/organization). Contact your admin if you have not received an invite.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create Your First Nest

1. Navigate to the [Nests](/your-nests/nests.md) page.
2. Select **Create New Nest**.
3. If applicable, select the Organization you wish to create a nest within. Select if you'd like to create a blank nest, a smart nest, from a template or a demo nest.

Currently, Smart Nest and From Template are disabled and will be available to enterprise users soon.

{% hint style="info" %}
All users regardless of pilot or subscription status may create their first nest for free with limited access to AI features. Creating a demo nest counts as an individual nest.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Navigate Your Nest

Your nest opens on the **Literature Search** page because this is the first review step.

Upon creation, your nest has a default setup. Familiarize yourself with the [Core Concepts](/get-started/core-concepts.md) of a nest.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.nested-knowledge.com/get-started/quickstart.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
